Beware Fake E-mails Asking for Your Caltech Username & Password
Many campus users are receiving e-mails claiming to come from Caltech that ask them to provide their usernames and passwords. Please be aware that this is a form of security attack known as “phishing” designed to fool users into giving their usernames and passwords to unknown persons. Please do not reply to these e-mails.
IMSS recommends against providing usernames and passwords by e-mail, and IMSS will never ask users for their passwords by e-mail or phone. If you receive any confusing or worrisome e-mails about any of your Caltech accounts, we strongly recommend you take the cautious approach by contacting the IMSS Help Desk at x3500 or help@caltech.edu or your local system administrator.

New Online Directory Feature 8/13/08
In response to feedback that the online directory should provide more information to off campus Caltech users, an access.caltech login has been added to online directory. Logging in to the online directory allows off campus Caltech users to see the same information as on campus users.
To see how your information is currently displayed to off campus users, look up your online directory record and click the "Show off campus version" link. As a reminder, access.caltech allows you to choose which information is displayed in the online directory. We encourage you to login to access.caltech and select My Personal Information to review your current settings. The items you can choose to display are:
- E-mail address
- Phone numbers (work and home)
- Campus mailing address
- Home residence address
Please note that changes to these settings take up to 24 hours to take effect in the online directory. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact the Help Desk at x3500 or at help@caltech.edu. |
