Can we upload documents (i.e. PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPEG) to the web site?

Video needs to be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo and then can be included into your site via those site’s “Share” urls

How much storage space is available for the website?

While total storage space limits are still being determined, the size limit per document is currently set at 10 Mb.

Are templated sites backed up regularly?

Yes, they are hosted in the cloud on load-balanced servers.

Can we have more than one designated administrator for the website?

Yes, you will use your access.caltech credentials to log into the site (and access to the site will automatically expire when a person leaves the institute).

Do I need any special knowledge or skills to develop the web pages?

You do need to know what you want to say and need to be able to take a decent picture (good lighting and composition) but you do not need to know HTML or other web-secific skills.

It is possible to keep the old site functioning and then transfer over to the new website at a specified date?

Yes, just let us know when you are ready to move the name from your existing site to the new one.

Can we create pages that are access restricted?

Yes there are a variety of privacy settings for each page – login with access.caltech credentials, restricted to campus IPs
