Microsoft is disabling Basic Authentication, in favor of Modern Authentication, a more secure way of connecting to your Office 365 Email.
Am I impacted?
Impacted users will be receiving an email from CaltechIMSS@caltech.edu to help them prepare for this change. Impacted users are usually running an older operating system, an older email client, or a less secure protocol such as POP or IMAP.
When will Basic Authentication be disabled for me?
IMSS will disable basic authentication in waves, ending November 2021. Beginning in March, IMSS will start contacting groups providing a two weeks' notice to transition to modern authentication. IMSS will provide as much information as possible regarding the impacted device and/or email client as well as instructions to authenticate with modern authentication.
