Configure the application firewall in Mac OS
- Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu
- Click Security or Security & Privacy
- Click the Firewall tab
- Unlock the pane by clicking the lock on the lower-corner and entering the administrator username and password
- Click Turn On Firewall or Start to enable the firewall

Disable Remote Login and Remote Management
- Go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > Sharing
- If you see a lock icon, click on it and enter the name and password of a user with administrator privileges
- Deselect Remote Login and the Remote Management checkbox

Create a non-admin account
It is recommended that you use a non-admin account for your day to day work. Follow these instructions if you need to create a non-admin account on your computer.
- Go to the Apple menu > System Preferences
- Select User and Groups
- If you see a lock icon, click on it and enter the name and password of a user with administrator privileges
- Select the + icon on the bottom left to create a new account
- The New Account dialog will open. Select Standard from the pull down menu and fill out the required fields. Do not make your password the same as the admin account
- Click Create User
