Getting Started
Before requesting Zoom phone, please note the following:
- 4 Digit Extension Dialing
- 4 digit extension dialing is available from Zoom Phone to Caltech Phones and vice versa .
- Transferring you work phone number to Zoom Phone
- You may request to to transfer your work number to Zoom Phone. This will allow calls to come to Zoom phone when users call your work phone number
- Transferring your work number to Zoom Phone takes 10-15 days
- Once your work number is transferred to Zoom Phone, the hardware phone on your desk will no longer be operational since it's not compatible with Zoom Phone
- Zoom hardware/desk phones are available upon request
- Zoom Desk Phone
- Zoom desk phones are not required. You can use the Zoom app on your desktop or mobile device to make and receive calls or use a headset with you computer.
- If a Zoom desk phone is required, please specify this on the request form

Request Zoom Phone
- Individual User:
- To request one Zoom Phone, please email help@caltech.edu. Please provide the following information:
- Name
- Group (Department\Division)
- Caltech Phone to transfer to Zoom Phone
- PTA for the Zoom Phone License charges
- Let us know if you like to purchase a Zoom desk phone (Please see the models available above).
- Zoom desk phones are not required since calls can be made through a computer or an app on a mobile device.
- If calls will be made and answered through a computer, a headset with microphone will be needed.
- We recommend the Jabra Evolve2 65 (Wireless) USB-A headset and the Jabra Evolve2 40 (Wired) USB-A.
- These also can be found with a USB-C connection.

- Group Request
- If you would like to add a group of users to Zoom Phone, please download then fill out this Transfer to Zoom Phone Excel File with the necessary information. Once the file is completed, please email it to help@caltech.edu
