Google Drive and Hangouts Meet

The Google Workspace (formerly called G Suite for Education) platform was implemented to support Spring 2020 online education. Google Drive and Hangouts tools are available to access.caltech users. Note that not all Google apps and services are available with your access.caltech account, only those specified below.

Google Drive

Google Drive provides cloud file storage and dynamic video delivery for access.caltech users only.

For FERPA compliance, content stored in G Suite Google Drive is only accessible to access.caltech users. Public links cannot be generated.

Google Hangouts Meet

Google Hangouts Meet provides instant messaging, phone calls, and video calls.

Google Drive / Hangouts Meet and VPN

VPN is not required for cloud services such as Google Drive and Hangouts Meet. For a better experience, IMSS recommends not connecting to VPN while using Google Drive and Hangouts Meet.
