In the Academic Development Services group (ADS) we write web software in support of Caltech's core processes with a focus on facilitating instruction and research. Our focus is on agile, iterative software development, and advanced automated tools to manage deployment of our software to the cloud.

Academic Media Technologies
Leslie Maxfield, Director
The Academic Media Technologies (AMT) group implements creative, innovative, and tech-savvy solutions to support Caltech's research and education mission, development, and outreach. We provide the following services:
- video production, animation, illustration, and photography
- lecture and event recordings and live broadcasts
- classroom teaching and online courses
- online collaboration and videoconferencing
- audio visual event support and installations
AMT supports faculty, students, and staff in Caltech's academic divisions, research centers, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, as well as non-academic groups, such as Advancement and Alumni Relations, Human Resources, Strategy Implementation, Student Affairs, and the Office of the President.
We are honored with 7 CASE awards for video production (research, news, PSA, commercial spots, and general information) and best use for social media technology, and nominations for the Caltech Team Impact Award.

Information Security
Ash Hadi, Chief Information Security Officer
The Information Security group supports Caltech's mission by working to protect the integrity, confidentiality and security of Institute electronic information resources.
Information Security is responsible for:
- Cybersecurity incident handling and forensic investigation
- Vulnerability testing and remediation advice
- Application security vetting and analysis
- IMSS infrastructure firewall service
- SSL certificate issuance
- Tracking threats and writing advisories
- Security best practices consultation
- Policy review and consultation
- Identity and access management

Infrastructure and Data Services
The Infrastructure and Data Services group consists of 3 groups providing technical support for Caltech's administrative information systems. These include high-performance computing, Office 365 (email and other tools), and the underlying infrastructure that supports the campus-wide applications, including system administration, database administration, server virtualization, storage, as well as cloud infrastructure services.

Associate Director, Infrastructure and Data Services, Academic Systems
The Data Services team provides support to faculty and researchers in the areas of high-performance computing, cloud, and traditional compute environments.
Sai Faaiuaso, Associate Director, Business Systems Architecture
Business Systems Architecture (BSA) maintains the databases, Linux operating systems, and cloud infrastructure services that are used by the administrative applications at Caltech. These systems form the basis of an integrated platform that provides many services (e.g., financial reporting, equipment tracking, payroll) to the campus.

Jim Tiedeman, Senior Associate Director, Business Systems Infrastructure
Business Systems Infrastructure (BSI) provides IT infrastructure and Windows servers for business applications, both on-premise and in the cloud. They provide server virtualization and operating system administration that support a multitude of systems for many departments across campus.

Institute Business Systems
Ron Kong, Associate Chief Information Officer
The Institute Business Systems (IBS) group within IMSS provides technical support for Caltech's administrative information systems. These include financial systems, human resources systems, student systems, facilities management systems, fundraising systems, business intelligence, and the entire underlying infrastructure that supports these applications. The work we do generally falls into the following categories: strategic system development and implementation, maintenance and production support, and systems infrastructure.
Network and Support Services
Dawn Boyd, Director
The Networks and Support Services group within IMSS consists of the Data Networks, Voice Networks, Help Desk and Advanced Support teams, along with the IMSS Department Coordinators.
The Coordinators support the entire IMSS organization through payroll, purchasing, supplies, facilities maintenance, and a host of other administrative support functions. The Data Networks team supports the wired and wireless infrastructure on campus, as well as external connectivity. The Voice Networks group supports the campus voice network, providing reliable local and long-distance voice services. The Help Desk and Advanced Support teams provide a variety of computer, printer, collaboration and software support services.
