Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a global initiative held every October to spotlight the critical importance of protecting our digital world. At Caltech, where innovation and research thrive, safeguarding our systems, networks, and data is not just a technical necessity, it's a shared responsibility.
Cyber threats are evolving rapidly. From ransomware and phishing to data breaches and supply chain attacks, malicious actors target institutions like ours to steal sensitive research, disrupt operations, and compromise personal and institutional integrity.
This year's campaign emphasizes building a culture of cybersecurity across research and higher education. Our goals:
- Empower our community to recognize and respond to threats
- Protect sensitive data and intellectual property
- Ensure compliance with regulations and funding requirements
- Preserve Caltech's reputation and operational resilience
To support these goals, IMSS will be sharing Cybersecurity Communication throughout October. Each week will focus on a different theme, from phishing awareness and password hygiene to securing research data and mobile devices.
Whether you're a researcher, student, faculty member, or staff, your actions matter. Learn how to spot suspicious activity, secure your devices, and protect your personal and professional information.
Together, we can make cybersecurity second nature.
